Did you know that all of our Zoo animals visit The Nest Te Kōhanga regularly to make sure they’re in good health?
The Nest Te Kōhanga is our animal hospital and centre for native wildlife care led by an expert team of vets and vet nurses. Every day, they are ready to look after any Zoo animals that might need veterinary care or native wildlife patients that are brought in by the community. Each year The Nest Te Kōhanga treats over 400 native wildlife patients brought to us from all over New Zealand. The care for each of these patients can cost up to $500 while we nurse them back to health so they can be returned to the wild.
